This project comprises the supply and installation of a multi-structure greenhouse complex located at the Mt Annan Botanical Gardens, utilising Redpath Ultraspan® 10.65 m series buildings configured across multiple connected spans and zones. The development includes both two-span and four-span structures, with individual buildings measuring up to 42.6 m in width and 36 m in length, delivering a combined covered area in excess of 2,300 m². The structural system is based on galvanised steel framing with consistent 3 m bay spacing and maximum column heights of 4 m, supported on plate footings with screw anchors to ensure stability and efficient load transfer. Twin-stud endwall construction is incorporated throughout, providing enhanced rigidity and support for cladding and openings.
Cladding varies across the complex depending on functional requirements, with buildings utilising 30%, 50%, and 70% green shadecloth across roofs, walls, and gables to achieve targeted light reduction and environmental control. Selected structures operate as partially open or fully shaded enclosures, while others incorporate internal shade screens and enclosed zones for more controlled growing conditions.
The system integrates a comprehensive drainage arrangement including internal and external guttering with multiple rainheads, along with strategically positioned access doors across several buildings. Environmental monitoring and control is supported through integrated sensors measuring temperature, humidity, and solar conditions, enabling refined management of internal climates across the different greenhouse zones.
Overall, the installation is designed as a flexible and modular greenhouse complex, allowing for varied operational uses within a single site, combining open shade structures with more controlled environments to support diverse horticultural and research applications.
